Remastered limited edition picture disc in a deluxe die cut sleeve 16 October 2015; ‘Library’ Edition (CD + LP) out 4 December 2015.

Following on from ‘Live At The 12 Bar’, Earth Recordings release the second Bert Jansch album from their new reissue series.

Bert’s eighth studio album Moonshine arrived in 1973 after Pentangle split but was recorded the previous year. Bert is accompanied by some of British folk and rock music’s aristocracy: Danny Thompson on double bass, guitarist Gary Boyle, Scottish fiddler Ali Bain, Fairport Convention percussionist Dave Mattacks, also on drums Laurie Allen (Gong, Robert Wyatt and Delivery), Ralph McTell on harmonica, The Beatles protégé Mary Hopkin (credited as Mary Visconti), cellist Marilyn Sanson, Richard Adeney (flute) and respected clarinet player Thea King. It was produced by fellow Pentangle member Danny Thompson and the legendary Tony Visconti (T-Rex, David Bowie and Gentle Giant), who not only arranged a number of songs but also played on the record.

Bringing together a selection of traditional songs along with his own compositions, Moonshine resonates with a gently brooding atmosphere. Opener ‘Yarrow’ tells the tale of a ploughboy who fights for a woman’s hand and ‘Brought With The Rain’ is a bluesy rendition. The LP features Bert classics ‘Night Time Blues’ and the reflections of a prisoner forced to fight on title-track ‘Moonshine’. Bert and Mary give an alluring and flawless duet on Ewan MacColl’s ‘The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face’, which also features Charlie Mingus’ drummer, Dannie Richmond.

Moonshine is released 4 December following an early limited edition picture disc release in October. Both releases feature the original artwork by Heather Jansch.
